Features

+ Examining Membrane Technologies for Water Reuse
Many industries are turning to membrane technologies as they strive to reuse and recycle water inside their facilities. Membrane bioreactors, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration and reverse osmosis are all well suited to providing consistently high quality water for reuse in an industrial setting. An article will provide an overview of membrane applications for water reuse and discuss important considerations when implementing membrane technologies.

+ Mining Camp Wastewater Treatment System Stands Up to Cold Climate
A mining company based in Canada needed temporary wastewater treatment for a 50-person mining camp in remote northern British Columbia. It had to be easily transportable and withstand the extreme conditions of this harsh climate, while maintaining effluent discharge targets of 30/30 mg/L BOD5 and TSS. A case study article will examine the project and its use of a packed bed filter module that can treat flows up to 2,500 gpd.

+ Mini-Mill Updates Automation System for Improved Cooling System Performance
Management at a sheet-steel mini-mill wanted to improve performance of its cooling systems, which included five contact systems, six non-contact systems and four closed loop systems. To meet the challenge, the facility upgraded the automation and technology tools used by its water treatment operators. The new system uses real-time monitoring, patented control technology, proprietary stress-resistant chemistry and 24/7 information management capabilities to provide improved scale, corrosion and microbiological performance in cooling systems.

+ Stormwater Systems Help Transform Rocket Test Site to Urban Parkland
A former rocket and energy test site in California faces some of the most stringent National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) limits for stormwater runoff in the nation as regulators seek to clean up local waterways. A multitude of state-of-the-art stormwater treatment systems have been installed at the site with the goal of transforming the site into an urban park.
