Biological wastewater treatment equipment market worth over $1 billion -- LONDON, Feb. 16, 2007 -- The biological wastewater treatment equipment segment is the most established in the European wastewater treatment equipment market. This is mainly because of its domination in the significant municipal sector and its increasing attractiveness in the industrial sector.

Furthermore, the stringent EU Directives on wastewater treatment have further brought biological wastewater treatment into focus and as a result this market continues to provide opportunities as well as challenges for equipment suppliers in terms of tight discharge limits such as nutrient levels in the treated wastewater stream. The biological wastewater treatment equipment market is worth more than US$1 billion and continues to be the "bread and butter" technology for equipment suppliers in the European market.

On this topic Frost & Sullivan will host an exclusive interactive briefing on Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. GMT to provide manufacturers, distribution channels, end-users and other industry participants with an overview of biological wastewater treatment equipment

Highlights of the briefing include: top level market analysis of the European biological wastewater treatment equipment market with a brief look at key market forces such as drivers, restraint and challenges. The briefing will also provide top level market revenue forecasts and related trends across sectors and technology segments.

Those interested in participating in this outlook should send an email to Frost & Sullivan's Chiara Carella at [email protected]

"Biological wastewater treatment continues to be the focus in the European wastewater treatment systems market with equipment suppliers embracing the present day challenges both in terms of operational and legislative requirements. The market growth has been catalysed by the creation of marketable solutions such as MBR systems, high efficiency nutrient removal systems or even less sludge generating biological solutions. In essence, the biological wastewater treatment systems segment does remain the 'bread and butter' for the large number of companies in the European market".

This briefing on the European biological wastewater treatment systems market would be beneficial to virtually all companies operating in the European wastewater treatment sector. It would also be particularly relevant to companies with a substantial in-house expertise in biological wastewater treatment as well as companies developing or on the verge of introducing new innovative biological systems. The briefing would also be extremely useful to contracting companies as it would provide key analysis of the trends in the European biological wastewater treatment, highlighting regional and sectorial trends which could be extremely useful in putting together an effective business development strategy.

The Lake Pleasant Water Treatment Plant, the result of a successful public-private partnership between American Water and the City of Phoenix, is expected to begin operations this spring upon completion of the first phase of a four-phase project. The largest design-build-operate (DBO) facility of its kind in North America, the water treatment plant has helped to earn the city of Phoenix accolades as the best-managed city in the country. Encompassing 225 acres, yet displaying an architectural style that naturally blends with the desert landscape, the plant treats water from Waddell Canal, pumping it through a 90-inch diameter pipeline approximately 12,000 feet in length. Treated water is then stored in a 40-million gallon, partly buried finished-water storage reservoir and transferred to the city's high- and low-pressure distribution systems by an on-site pump station...
