Wastewater operator training program
WASHINGTON, Sept. 20, 2007 -- The Wastewater Operator Training Program was implemented in 1982 under section 104(g) (1) of the Clean Water Act. The program provides approximately one million dollars annually to improve compliance at small publicly owned wastewater treatment plants with a discharge of less than five million gallons per day. Nationally, 46 states or training centers receive the funding and are able to assist, on average, about 700 facilities a year to either satisfy the NPDES compliance or improve performance.
