TALLASSEE, AL, Nov. 12, 2007 -- Central Vermont Public Service (CVP) has selected Neptune Technology Group Inc. to implement Neptune's FieldNet utility field service automation suite.

CVPS is an investor-owned electric utility serving 158,000 customers in 152 communities throughout Vermont. With the FieldNet system, CVPS will have a state-of-the-art; highly adaptable system to further enhance its current meter reading operations while also providing a platform to support future field service needs.

"We selected FieldNet because it provided CVPS with immediate improvements such as meter probing flexibility, meter reconfiguration capability, and integrated rerouting while also providing future system capabilities such as service order processing," said CVPS Project Manager Jim Corbo. FieldNet's ability to overcome the limitations of other systems on the market was one of the key criteria that led CVPS to make the selection. With the many unknowns about future AMI requirements and implementation timelines, CVPS sought a solution that was highly adaptable to help support whatever AMI direction CVPS took. "With FieldNet we got tremendous future opportunities in an industry leading system today."

Charles (Chuck) C. DiLaura, President of Neptune Technology Group Inc., states, "We are very pleased that Central Vermont Public Service sees the long term value that FieldNet can bring to their utility. They have certainly shown foresight in their strategic approach and their desire to gain long-term value from their system decision."

Neptune Technology Group is a developer of utility automation systems for meter reading, service order management, and route optimization; and Neptune's sister company Roper Mobile Technologies is their solution provider of mobile computer hardware and services. Currently, Neptune's FieldNet system is used to read more than 17 million meters and provides route control for more than 50 million connected customers. In addition, Neptune's software solutions are used by 35 of the largest 100 utilities in the United States and over 2,400 North American utilities in total.

CVPS (www.cvps.com), the largest electric company in Vermont, was organized on Aug. 20, 1929 by the consolidation of eight electric companies. Today CVPS can trace its roots to more than 100 companies, one dating back to 1858. Today, CVPS serves over 158,000 customers in 152 communities. JD Power ranks CVPS first among similarly sized utilities in the East for power quality, reliability, company image, billing and payment. Their bills are also among the lowest in New England. As an investor-owned utility, CVPS plays an integral role in Vermont's economic, electric and energy future.

Neptune Technology Group Inc. (www.neptunetg.com), a pioneer in the development of Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) technology for more than 43 years, is a leading provider of data collection systems which are used to read more than 59 million meters per month. Since 1892 Neptune has continually focused on the evolving needs of utilities -- revenue optimization, optional efficiencies, and improved customer service. Neptune continues to broaden its focus beyond automatic meter reading and metering to include service orders and meter asset management and to extend this capability to electric and gas utilities. Neptune provides utility automation software touching over 96 million connected customers throughout North America.
