WARRENDALE, PA, July 8, 2009 -- Siemens has been awarded a multi-million-dollar contract by The Benham Companies to provide a process water system for Dr. Pepper Snapple Group's new bottling plant in Victorville, California. The treated water will be used to make purified bottled water and a variety of soft drinks. The 1,200-gpm (273-m3/hr) system will include media and carbon filtration, nanofiltration, reverse osmosis and ultraviolet disinfection, and is designed to recover more than 90% of the water. Siemens will design, install and start up the system, which is scheduled for commissioning in early 2010.

Once completed, the Victorville plant will be the most advanced production facility in the DPS system and will be LEED certified. Siemens worked closely with Benham and DPS in Plano, Texas to design a sustainable, reliable and cost-effective water treatment system that meets the stringent ingredient water specifications required by the Victorville plant. The system incorporates water savings features such as reject recovery reverse osmosis and backwash reclaim from the multimedia filters and carbon towers.

The success of Siemens' earlier projects at DPS's plants in St. Louis, Missouri, Jacksonville, Florida, Williamson, New York, Irving, Texas and Columbus, Ohio was an influencing factor in the company's choice of Siemens for this newest project in Victorville.

The Siemens Industry Sector (Erlangen, Germany) consists of six Divisions: Building Technologies, Drive Technologies, Industry Automation, Industry Solutions, Mobility and Osram.

Dr Pepper Snapple Group Inc. is a leading producer of flavored beverages in North America and the Caribbean.
