PALATINE, IL, USA, 21 September 2009 -- Cyril Perducat, senior vice president of system consistency and innovation for Schneider Electric, has been chosen to serve as president of the board of directors for ODVA Inc., a global organization composed of the world's leading automation vendors, which develops, manages and promotes industry standards for open computer networks.ODVA supports network technologies based on the Common Industrial Protocol (CIP™), including DeviceNet™, EtherNet/IP™, CompoNet™ and ControlNet™, along with the major extensions to CIP -- CIP Safety™, CIP Sync™ and CIP Motion™. ODVA's board of directors is responsible for overall governance and strategic direction of the organization. The composition of ODVA's board in the upcoming term is global and consists of directors based in the Americas, Asia-Pacific and Europe. Perducat has worked for Schneider Electric since 1994 and is based in Singapore.
"ODVA is a dynamic organization that, in a unique spirit of cooperation, brings together competitors who share a common interest in developing and promoting best-in-class, open network standards," Perducat said. "As a principal member of ODVA, Schneider Electric has pledged its strong support for the success of the organization, and I am honored to be chosen to serve on ODVA's board and as its president. In this role, I look forward to building on the success of the integration of Modbus® TCP devices into EtherNet/IP by continuing to work with the leadership and members of ODVA to drive the continued evolution of ODVA as a world leader in industrial Ethernet."
In addition, Schneider Electric's Rudy Belliardi was chosen to serve as a representative on the ODVA Technical Review Board. The Technical Review Board is responsible for oversight of ODVA's technical standards, including approval of enhancements to ODVA's specifications for CIP networks. Belliardi, a consulting engineer, is located in North Andover, Mass., and has worked for Schneider Electric since 1984. He is responsible for communication networks standardization.
ODVA (www.odva.org), which is a non-stock corporation incorporated in Wisconsin, changed its legal name from Open DeviceNet Vendor Association Inc. to ODVA Inc., the acronym under which the organization has long been operating. This legal change reflects ODVA's evolution from an organization founded in 1995 to develop and promote the DeviceNet standard into a world-class standards development organization encompassing industrial networking technologies for automation applications from the plant floor to the enterprise.
