MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA, March 1, 2010 -- Based on its recent analysis of the residential water treatment market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes HaloSource Inc. (HaloSource) with the 2010 Frost & Sullivan Award for Technology Innovation and the 2010 Hot Investment Opportunity Award. In a market challenged by the price sensitivity of consumers and the lack of product differentiation, HaloSource's revolutionary non-electric drinking water disinfection technology, HaloPure®, is simple, affordable, effective, and offers tremendous value to consumers.

HaloPure® technology is well suited for low-cost, point-of-use (PoU) water purification applications. It is typically deployed in a cartridge along with appropriate pre-filtration technology and provides the benefits of primary disinfection, safe water storage, and biofilm inhibition. Various sizes of HaloPure® cartridges can provide gravity-fed disinfection and may also be used in combination with almost all other commonly used treatment technologies in faster-flowing product applications. This patented technology uses common halogens - chlorine or bromine - that have the potential to safely enhance drinking water treatment systems.

The technology in HaloPure® is effective against a wide range of germs. It is designed to ensure disease causing bacteria and viruses are killed on contact without releasing chemicals into drinking water. In addition to effective pre-filtration, HaloPure® powered devices also remove other impurities to provide safe drinking water at PoU .

"With more than 85 percent of the under-developed world's diseases linked to contaminated drinking water, the HaloPure® technology is ideally suited to meet the stringent water treatment needs," says Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Shilpa Tiku. "Another key advantage of HaloSource's robust technology is that it can be incorporated into virtually any PoU product such as pitchers, counter top systems, under the sink systems, faucet mount systems, tabletop systems, sport bottles and freestanding units."

In 2009 HaloPure® became the first new drinking water technology in more than a decade to receive both Manufacture-For-Use and Device registrations by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA). HaloPure® is present in India, China and Brazil through partner companies - Eureka Forbes uses HaloPure® inside its PoU equipment called Aquasure in India, and Chanitex in China.

"The fact that more than 1 million units using HaloPure® are now in service across India and HaloSource has active partners in China, Brazil and Europe, is a testimony to its superior performance and high return on investment (ROI)," notes Tiku. "It is expecting revenue growth in the range of 50 to 60 percent year-on-year as it has built multiple new applications for its technology and recurring revenue streams from the replacement business."

"HaloSource is blessed with multiple facets of a highly talented management team, strong institutional investors, high innovation capabilities and a sound business model that has the potential for high investment returns. With the secondary markets easing slowly out of recession, exit opportunities in the form of a public offering also support their case strongly," stated Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst Ramakrishnan.

Based on the all these factors, Frost & Sullivan is proud to present HaloSource with both the 2010 Hot Investment Opportunity Award as well as the Technology Innovation Award in the North American residential water treatment market. Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents the Hot Investment Opportunity Award to the company that has demonstrated the highest level of investment return potential within its industry. The Technology Innovation Award recognizes the uniqueness of a technology, its impact on new products/applications, and their value to customer, all of which ultimately drive the industry.

Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis, and extensive secondary research in order to identify best practices in the industry.
