FLAGSTAFF, AZ, Dec. 2, 2010 -- A decision by the U.S. Forest Service to allow treated wastewater to be used for snowmaking at Arizona Snowbowl ski resort has been upheld by a federal judge.
Despite harsh opposition from environmentalists and American Indian tribes, U.S. District Judge Mary Murguia said that the Forest Service adequately considered the impacts of the snowmaking plan and that the record supported the agency's decision to allow it. Snowbowl owner Eric Borowskly said snowmaking equipment will be in place for next year's ski season.
