DOHA, Qatar, March. 14, 2011 -- Set to be the region's leading water and wastewater conference and exhibition, WaterWorld Middle East has officially opened its Call for Papers.

Produced by PennWell International, the global publishing and event company behind Water & Wastewater International and WaterWorld journals, the first annual WaterWorld Middle East conference and exhibition will take place in Doha, Qatar in October 2011 as a co-located event with POWER-GEN Middle East.

The Advisory Committee of WaterWorld Middle East is now accepting paper abstracts for the inaugural WaterWorld Middle East 2011 conference.

Supported by the Arab Countries Water Utility Association (ACWUA), the conference team now invites the industry to share knowledge, experience and ideas with technical and strategic decision-makers and strategists.

Conference topics are set to include pricing and tariff structures; country overviews; project structures including BOT and BOOT; renewable powered desalination; water loss and leakage control; groundwater management and aquifer recharging; wastewater reuse, recycling and sludge treatment and disposal.

Survey report forecasts indicate the demand for fresh water is expected to double in the Middle East as shrinking supplies take its toll. Qatar is one of the world’s largest consumers of water on a per capita basis. The country has already spent more than $5 billion on water desalination over the last decade and to meet ever increasing demands, the country is expected to invest a further $10 billion in water over the next decade. This will result in an 18 per cent rise in water production.

Huge investment is also expected over the coming years following Qatar’s successful bid to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup. This will bring the world’s most prestigious football tournament and the first ever carbon-neutral event to the Middle East region for the first time.

"This conference development couldn't have come at a better time," said Tom Freyberg, conference director. "Demand for fresh water continues to grow in the region, coupled with increasing population and urbanisation levels."

WaterWorld Middle East is destined to become the most prestigious event to serve the water industry and will provide the perfect opportunity to represent your company and network with leading organizations and high-level influencers.

Abstract submission deadline is March 18 2011 and to submit a paper please visit: www.waterworldmiddleeast.com
