VANDALIA, OH, Apr. 12, 2011 -- A new water treatment plant at the Coeur Palmarejo silver and gold mine in Mexico will enable water to be recycled from the tailings pond back to the mill.
Crown Solutions , a Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies company, will supply the initial equipment for the plant, which is located in the Sierra Madre Occidental Mountains of northwestern Mexico. It's owned by Coeur D'Alene Mines (Idaho).
The treatment plant will include two trains of ACTIFLO® clarifier and Hydrotech™ Discfilters. The process also includes chemical feed systems and mixing/reaction tanks. The treatment solution accomplishes residual cyanide destruction, total suspended solids and metals removal and filtration for water that is recycled back to the mill.
Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies Mexico will also provide operational support services for Palmarejo Mine.
The new WTP is scheduled to be commissioned in mid-2011.
