May 23, 2011 -- Ballast water treatment systems from RWO Marine Water Technology have been ordered by a Japanese shipyard for three Cypriot tankers currently being built.

RWO, a part of Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies, manufactures the CleanBallast™ ballast water treatment system, which features a maximum capacity of 3,000 m³/h.

The ballast water treatment systems were ordered by Sumitomo Heavy Industries Marine & Engineering, a shipyard located in Yokosuka, Japan, that has built in excess of 1,300 ships. They will be installed in 2012 in three Aframax tankers currently being built for a Cypriot shipowner.

The systems will be equipped with several of RWO's advanced disinfection systems operating in parallel, allowing the system to satisfy differing rates of ballasting and de-ballasting.
