Two new software systems released by Innovyze are designed to help water system managers make informed decisions, whether in the treatment plant control room, in the office or out in the field. The company’s IWLive for InfoWater is designed to equip control rooms with comprehensive decision-making capabilities. Its new strategic Analytics Centric Asset Management (ACAM) product suite provides water utilities with a geocentric solution for data collection and management, water security, network simulation, real-time forecasting, day-to-day operations, renewal planning, and decision analysis.
Two new software systems are designed to help water system managers make informed decisions, whether in the treatment plant control room, in the office or out in the field.
The products have been released by Innovyze, a provider of business analytics software and technologies for wet infrastructure. The company’s IWLive for InfoWater is designed to equip control rooms with comprehensive decision-making capabilities. The release gives InfoWater users the ability to seamlessly move their hydraulic modeling and analysis from planning and design to operation and control.
The company has also introduced a portfolio of GIS-centric analytics and system tools for intelligent business decision making. Combining powerful analytics software with asset performance modeling and optimization technologies, the new strategic Analytics Centric Asset Management (ACAM) product suite provides water utilities with a geocentric solution for data collection and management, water security, network simulation, real-time forecasting, day-to-day operations, renewal planning, and decision analysis.
The IWLive release provides a a streamlined tool for real-time water distribution modeling, forecasting and SCADA integration. Intended for use in the water distribution control room, it helps operators develop real-time response strategies.
Operators can run accurate hydraulic simulations that factor in energy costs, weather, real time (or delayed) SCADA telemetry, demand history, valve and pumping control scenarios. Beyond increasing efficiency and reducing energy consumption, IWLive can help operators understand the impact on CO2 emissions as well as the effects of main breaks, pump and reservoir shutdowns, and other scheduled maintenance.
The software equips the control room with tools that are both predictive and reactive. It issues regularly updated warnings to alert the control room operator to problems that may occur in the coming minutes, hours, or days. The operator can see the predicted severity of problems and the time of onset in one interface.
Beyond automatic prediction, IWLive can also enable the control room operator to evaluate problem-solving approaches by assessing energy-use reduction schemes and their net effect on reducing carbon footprint, and by simulating the closure of valves or a change in a pump’s operating schedule. It quickly produces a second simulation that can be compared with the first to determine the level of improvement, the problems that remain, and the costs of the change.
Built atop ArcGIS, the Innovyze ACAM suite includes InfoWater Executive Suite, InfoWater UDF, InfoSurge, CapPlan and IWLive. It uses geospatial data and sophisticated modeling tools to find problem areas in a water system, solve infrastructure issues, enhance security, and optimize performance. Its business analytics applications address every facet of water utility infrastructure management, operation, and protection.
Uses include helping water utilities more effectively manage their energy consumption, improve overall operations and reduce greenhouse gas emissions; managing sensor location placement, systematic flushing, leakage and pressure zones, vulnerability and valve criticality assessment; and conducting prioritized risk- and condition-based capital investment planning.
High-performing system dynamics enable users to predict steady and transient flow, pressure and water quality conditions throughout the distribution system under multiple scenarios.
These capabilities allow for faster, better-informed decision making, and support more reliable and efficient asset management and business planning. They can also help utilities reduce their water infrastructure vulnerability and enhance their ability to prepare for and respond to natural disasters and emergencies, and bond more closely with their customers.
Both IWLive and ACAM are available worldwide by subscription. For the latest information on the Innovyze Subscription Program, including availability and purchase requirements, visit www.innovyze.com.
