MACON, GA, May 10, 2012 -- Oldcastle Precast is supplying multiple precast concrete wastewater products for the Macon Water Authority's (MWA) Allen Road II Lift Station and Force Main project, which is providing a much-needed pumping capacity upgrade and expansion. The upgrade will relieve pressure on the current Allen Road I station.
The Oldcastle Precast wastewater products are being used to upgrade the sewage lift stations and will include a new 23 foot deep Sewer Lift Station with ID HDPE liner cast into walls, an 8 foot diameter Lift Station Overflow with octagon anti-floatation footer, (6) six sewer manholes, (6) six force main CAV manholes and (1) one ARV manhole.
The current rehabilitation and construction project, contracted to Astra Grading & Pipe LLC, consists of the addition of two 150 horsepower pumps, a new electrical building, installation of approximately 7,500 linear feet of 24'' ductile iron and fusible PVC pipe, of which 4,200 linear feet was placed using 36'' horizontal directional drilling under an existing wetland area to transport sewage to the Rocky Creek Water Reclamation Facility. The new pump station (Allen Road II) will share the wastewater conveyance load with the existing station (Allen Road I), and will also provide full redundancy in the event of a shutdown of the existing pump station.
The Macon Water Authority's expansion and upgrade will provide its customers with enhanced sewerage collection and treatment services that the citizens of Bibb County and Macon, GA have come to expect.
Astra Grading & Pipe LLC of Woodstock, GA is the General Contractor for this project. In addition, Carter and Sloope Consulting Engineers of Macon, GA is the design engineer of record.
