Singapore Public Utilities Board (PUB) will be lending experience from its NEWater programme to help develop wastewater reuse facilities for the Delhi Jal Board (DJB), India, in the Coronation Pillar area.
A partnership with consultancy CH2M Hill and Singapore Cooperation Enterprise will see technical and management leadership services provided to help recycle 40 million gallons of wastewater per day.
It will also outline an implementation and operation of sewage and wastewater recycling and reuse related infrastructure projects, including delivering projects on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) basis.
Under this phase -1, the team will develop a recycle and reuse strategic plan, feasibility study, and preliminary design, as well as a PPP framework for the Coronation Pillar Water Reclamation Plant.
The programme will also conduct a series of workshops to build capacity for 90 government officials from the Delhi Jal Board. During phase -2, it is proposed to develop a tender document to invite bids on DBFOT (Design Bid Finance Operate and Transfer) basis.
Singapore-based Temasek Foundation will be providing a grant of $463,149 for 70% of Phase -1 program.
Vinod Singh, vice president at CH2M HILL, said: “Through this programme, DJB is keen to tap into Singapore’s experience to develop efficient water recycle and reuse programme to augment its water supply to meet the increasing needs of the City of New Delhi.”
