Engineering Performance Solutions is opening its doors to help drinking water utilities maintain important EPA health standards.

Gainesville, FL, Nov. 29, 2012 -- Engineering Performance Solutions (EPS) is opening its doors to help drinking water utilities maintain important Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) health standards. According to EPA standards which are detailed on their website at http://water.epa.gov/lawsregs/rulesregs/sdwa/stage2/basicinformation.cfm#twelve, when chlorine is used as a disinfectant in water treatment, it reacts with the natural organic matter in the water to form harmful by-products. When consumed, these disinfection by-products (or DBPs) have been linked to increased risks for cancer. EPS offers full water quality evaluations to drinking water utilities that will analyze DBP content in water and provide a customized evaluation for proper mitigation.

With a sample of water, EPS will test for the DBP content as well as the DBP formation potential, in line with industry standard methods (ASTM 5710). In addition, the EPS lab is capable of simulating a full-scale water treatment plant with varying disinfection contact times and water quality levels. With this ability, a customized report is generated that provides a plan for DBP control and environmental regulatory compliance.
