Columbian oil & gas production company Pacific Rubiales Energy will be using screen and microfiber filtration technology from Amiad for the protection of Reverse Osmosis (RO) membranes at a desalination facility.

The $5 million contract includes the supply and commissioning of the RO pre-treatment, which will occur this year and $2.7m for maintenance over a period of 10 years.

Amiad’s pre-filtration solution will protect the RO membranes of Nirosoft’s purification system which treats the water produced during petroleum extraction. An aim of the contract is to extend the life of the RO membranes as well as reduce operating costs.
