Dec. 9, 2014 -- Hatch Mott MacDonald (HMM), a full-service consulting engineering firm, recently announced that it has won three awards -- the 2014 Superior Employer Recognition Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and two Awards of Excellence from the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies (ACEC) -- for exceptional efforts made toward various projects.

ASCE Superior Employer Recognition Award

The ASCE honored HMM with the 2014 Superior Employer Recognition Award for encouraging young engineers to participate in ASCE activities. "Hatch Mott MacDonald is dedicated to supporting and mentoring our younger engineers. Participating in ASCE activities is an important way to develop professionally," said Nicholas DeNichilo, president and CEO of HMM.

HMM has a very active Young Professionals Organization and offers continuing education through on-demand training courses, webinars, brown-bag technical presentations, and other events. Training in career and project management is offered through the Horizon, Navigator and Elements programs, as well as networking events and a mentorship program.

HMM strongly encourages staff members to attend ASCE events and provides financial support and time off to those attending ASCE seminars, webinars, conferences, and outreach and networking sessions.

ACEC Awards of Excellence

The ACEC honored HMM with two Awards of Excellence at the Canadian Consulting Engineering (CCE) Awards Gala held on October 23, 2014, in Ottawa. HMM received one CCE Award of Excellence in association with its parent company Hatch Ltd., in the category of Natural Resources, Mining, Industry & Energy. The award was given for work on the Niagara Tunnel Project in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

HMM received the second award with the MMM Group as part of the H5M joint venture, in the category of Transportation. This award was for onshore works designed as part of the Port Mann/Highway 1 Improvement Project in Vancouver.

HMM has also received previous awards for the Niagara Tunnel Project, including a 2014 Award of Merit (Consulting Engineers of Ontario), 2013 Canadian Tunnelling Project of the Year (Tunneling Association of Canada) and 2013 Premier Project Award (Platts Global Energy Awards).
