ALEXANDRIA, VA, June 29, 2015 -- The Water Environment Federation (WEF) recently announced that The Washington Post has named the organization as one of the top places to work in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. Placing #61 among small companies, WEF was recognized as a reputable organization whose staff and members work toward a greater purpose -- providing clean water and resource recovery for the protection of public health and the environment.

WEF achieves this goal in part by providing its Alexandria, Va.-based staff with a supportive work environment and healthy work-life balance that promotes productivity, minimizes turnover and fosters employee satisfaction and professional development.

"This is the first time WEF has participated in a workplace competition, and we are delighted with the outcome," said WEF Executive Director Eileen O'Neill. "WEF staff represents the absolute best in our field. We take great pride in what we do, but it's gratifying to have substantiation that, as an employer, WEF provides an environment that nurtures our employees, which in turn, positively impacts our members and helps further our shared mission."

The employee survey (here) -- the foundation of the competition -- is based solely on employee feedback obtained by WorkplaceDynamics, LLC (Exton, Pa.), a research firm that specializes in organizational health and employee engagement. Each year, the company conducts regional Top Workplaces programs with 45 major publishing partners across the U.S. Over the past year, more than 6,000 organizations and one in every 88 employees have turned to WorkplaceDynamics to better understand employee satisfaction.

"WEF is fortunate to attract top talent, but what you don't see until you join the staff is an embracing and inclusive culture, which is the true hallmark of its success and workplace philosophy," added WEF's Human Resources Director Jan Taylor. "In addition to feeling good about the important work that WEF and its members do each day, the Federation truly is a great place to begin or advance your career."
