July 31, 2015 -- Kruger Inc., a Veolia business unit specializing in water treatment solutions for municipalities, was recently awarded a contract to furnish a Hydrotech Discfilter system for the Port Orange Reclaimed Water Reservoir and Filtration Project, located in Port Orange, Fla. The project is investing in the city's future by upgrading its treatment capabilities, especially the ability to treat stormwater to reuse standards.

Kruger will provide the water filtration unit with a controls system, mobile automated cleaning system and two slow-speed mechanical mixers. The system is designed to treat stormwater to reuse standards by filtering a peak flow of 2.0 million gallons per day and provide effluent with total suspended solids of ≤5 mg/L.

The Hydrotech Discfilter utilizes many patented designs, including the oscillating backwash spray header, which provides efficient media cleaning while reducing water consumption by 20 percent. Its innovative design and robust construction consistently produce high-quality effluent despite high solids loadings and upset conditions. Further, the technology provides a compact footprint, simplified control system and straightforward installation process.

The Hydrotech Discfilter was selected largely based on Kruger's successful installation of its innovative filtration application at a nearby site in Port Orange. The company's technology, competitive pricing, customer service, and extensive installation base across the U.S were also important factors in the city's decision. Expected to be operational during the spring of 2016, the Hydrotech Discfilter will give the Port Orange Reclaimed Water Reservoir and Filtration Project a cost-effective, state-of-the-art technology that will provide first-rate filtration.
