Sept. 29, 2015 -- For water and wastewater utilities today, their customers play a vital role in how they function and can truly serve as the lifeblood of their operations. Whether it's contributing ideas or even supporting water conservation initiatives, these ratepayers have a major impact on many decision-making processes.
Connecting with these customers is key, and focusing on the importance of customer outreach and engagement and how utilities can better embrace transparency with their communities should be a primary concern. The Value of Water Coalition, for example, is a group of public and private water agencies, business and community leaders, as well as national organizations and is putting into practice many valuable principles relating to this important topic. Further, the group sheds more light on how utilities can improve and ultimately maintain the relationship with their customers.
