The Texas Water Development Board has officially approved financial assistance to both the Airline Improvement District and the City of Glen Rose for critical rural water and wastewater system projects.

AUSTIN, TEXAS, Oct. 29, 2015 -- The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) has officially approved financial assistance to both the Airline Improvement District (Harris County) and the City of Glen Rose (Somervell County) for critical rural water and wastewater system projects.

The funds consist of a $475,000 grant from the Economically Distressed Areas Program (EDAP) to Airline for water and wastewater system improvements, as well as an $8,790,000 provision -- consisting of a $3,520,000 loan and a $3,520,000 grant from the EDAP and a $1,750,000 loan from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund -- to Glen Rose for a wastewater treatment plant expansion.

Airline will be able to finance construction costs associated with a water and wastewater improvement project, and Glen Rose will be able to fund construction costs associated with expanding its wastewater treatment plant and rehabilitating portions of its collection system.

With the assistance approved today, Airline will be able to provide first-time water and sewer services to approximately 109 water and 200 wastewater connections within the District's service area. The TWDB previously committed $5.4 million from EDAP for this project.

Accordingly, Glen Rose will be able to modify the treatment process, expand the treatment capacity, and rehabilitate the wastewater treatment plant and collection system with the assistance. The TWDB previously committed $740,000 from EDAP for the planning and design phases of this project.
