WORLD WATER DAY: Calif. water purification program launches #WithWater campaign

March 2, 2016
Newly launched website and #WithWater social media campaign educate and celebrate the importance of water in everyday life.

Santee, CA, March 2, 2016 – In celebration of March 22 World Water Day, the East County Advanced Water Purification Program, led by Padre Dam Municipal Water District and its program partners (the County of San Diego, City of El Cajon and Helix Water District), announces the launch of its new website, www.EastCountyAWP.com and a social media engagement campaign titled #WithWater.

The new website includes a program overview video, flipboards, photos and updated information about the Advanced Water Purification (AWP) Program, which will create a new, local, sustainable and drought proof drinking water supply using state-of-the-art technology to purify recycled water and can meet up to 30 percent of East County’s current drinking water demands. The website includes updated program fact sheets, news articles and a page for the public to sign up for tours of the demonstration facility.

“The East County Advanced Water Purification program uses state-of-the-art technology. The new website and social media efforts are an example of our community outreach efforts that also utilize modern tools to help educate and engage the public,” said Allen Carlisle, CEO and General Manager of Padre Dam. “Residents can visit the website to get the latest project information, watch a video on the microscopic steps involved in the water purification process and sign up for a tour to see the facility firsthand.”

The #WithWater campaign complements the website launch and AWP program by educating the public about the value of a secure, sustainable water supply and encouraging the community to share via social media their photos of how daily life is improved and enjoyed “with water.”

Members of the public that post a photo of their water appreciation with the hashtag #WithWater at either the Twitter account @EastCountyAWP (twitter.com/EastCountyAWP) or the Facebook account (www.facebook.com/PadreDam/) will have their post entered into a random drawing to win a one-night stay at the Santee Lakes cabins! People can post as many photos as they would like and the drawing will be held on March 22.

“The East County Advanced Water Purification Program could ultimately produce up to 13 million gallons of water per day for East County,” added Carlisle. “This is an important program for the region that is detailed in the new website, and celebrated through this engaging campaign that reminds our community of how important water is in our everyday lives.”
