American Water announces new leadership

Robert MacLean, Richard Svindland, and Jeffrey McIntyre have moved into new roles.

VOORHEES, NJ, FEBRUARY 16, 2017 -- American Water has named Robert MacLean senior vice president of its Eastern Division and president of New Jersey American Water, effective March 1, 2017. MacLean replaces William Varley, who was recently appointed senior vice president of American Water's Midwest Division, encompassing Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and Iowa.

MacLean has served as president of California American Water since 2009 and president of Hawaii American Water since 2011. California American Water provides high-quality and reliable water and/or wastewater services to more than 660,000 people throughout the state. Hawaii American Water provides wastewater service to more than 30,000 Hawaiians. Richard Svindland has been named the new president of California and Hawaii American Water, effective March 1, 2017, replacing MacLean.

American Water also announced today that it has named Jeffrey McIntyre senior vice president of its Mid-Atlantic Division, encompassing Pennsylvania and West Virginia. He will also become president of Pennsylvania American Water, effective March 1, 2017. McIntyre replaces Kathy Pape, who was named American Water's senior vice president of Regulatory Policy and Business Development.

McIntyre is currently president of West Virginia American Water, providing high-quality and reliable water services to approximately 540,000 people. In this role, he is the principal contact for American Water in West Virginia and is dedicated to building and maintaining relationships with state and local officials, regulators and customers. McIntyre also oversees local operating staffs to ensure optimal performance.l
