LINCOLN, NE & GREENWOOD VILLAGE, CO, APRIL 19, 2017 -- Huffman Engineering Inc., a leader in control systems integration with offices in Nebraska and Colorado, has announced the successful completion of a water treatment plant modernization project for the City of Omaha at the Missouri River Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). The WWTP modernization was part of the Clean Solutions for Omaha (CSO) program designed to improve the water quality of local rivers and streams. Huffman Engineering was single-sourced by the City of Omaha as a subcontractor to Hawkins Construction Company, and was responsible for designing and installing the instrumentation and controls for improvements and additions to the water treatment facility.

"Huffman Engineering brought a high level of expertise and a great depth of understanding to the Missouri River WWTP project," said Chris Grojean, vice president of Hawkins Construction Company. "Huffman's task was to integrate all the electrical and control systems to work seamlessly together – a difficult task on this complex system. We found Huffman to be professional, organized, and a great member of our team."

Huffman Engineering was selected for the Missouri River WWTP project by the City of Omaha because of the company's extensive knowledge, experience and familiarity with the city's system. The goal of the months-long project was to expand overall capacity, increase the facility's efficiency, and reduce the amount of wastewater flowing through the storm sewer system during rain events to comply with Federal water quality regulations.

"This was a large project and had its challenges, but Huffman Engineering was able to successfully adapt to project changes and meet the customer's goals on time and within budget," said Howard Huffman, CEO of Huffman Engineering. "Our extensive expertise in delivering automated turnkey infrastructure solutions in highly-regulated industries helped us successfully complete our most recent City of Omaha project."

For 29 years, Huffman Engineering has served as a trusted technology and services partner to water industry professionals throughout Colorado and Nebraska. The company also recently completed a major renovation project at a 125-year-old freshwater treatment plant for CSO, which included PLC and SCADA control system upgrades with no downtime for installation.

Huffman Engineering has a long history of delivering large-scale system integration projects for highly regulated industries which require clients meet stringent regulatory requirements. Whether meeting requirements for the FDA, USDA, or EPA, Huffman Engineering builds robust reliable automation systems.
