Liverpool WWTP selects AirPrex for sludge optimization and phosphorus recovery

CNP Technology Water and Biosolids process slated for Q4 2017 installation.

KENOSHA, WI, APRIL 5, 2017 -- CNP™ Technology Water and Biosolids Corp. recently announced AirPrex®, a sludge optimization and phosphorus recovery process, has been selected for the Liverpool Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) by the Medina County Sanitary Engineers in Ohio.

The AirPrex process is a patented phosphorus recovery technology owned by CNP, a division of Centrisys Corporation. AirPrex reduces problematic struvite buildup in wastewater treatment plants. The reduction of struvite in pipes and equipment improves overall plant efficiencies including dewatering improvements resulting in significant operational cost savings for treatment plants. The recovered phosphorus in the form of struvite is a beneficial slow release fertilizer that can be used within the community.

The CNP team will work with Black & Veatch and Overland Contracting Inc., a Black & Veatch company, to leverage its technological experience with phosphorus recovery to deliver the most efficient solution for Medina County. This project is being executed as a design-build project led by Black & Veatch. Besides AirPrex, new centrifuges, a thermal hydrolysis process and new mesophilic digesters will be added among other plant improvements.

The Liverpool WWTP serves about 35,000 customers and processes an average of 9 million gallons of wastewater daily. It is located approximately 30 miles south of Cleveland.
