Evoqua awarded second WWTP expansion project in Florida

The company has been contracted to meet future nutrient removal requirements.

PITTSBURGH, PA, MAY 18, 2017 -- Regional Utilities of Walton County, Florida has once again selected Evoqua Water Technologies through its sales partner AAG Electric Motors & Pumps Inc. for a project to expand their biological wastewater treatment plant located in the south Walton County resort community of Seacrest. In 2016, Evoqua expanded Regional Utilities' nearby Point Washington facility with an OMNIFLO® SBR system with Jet Tech technology increasing the treatment capacity from 2.0 million gallons per day (MGD) to 4.0 MGD.

The Seacrest project will also include the expansion of an existing OMNIFLO® SBR system from 2.0 MGD to 4.0 MGD allowing the plant to meet future effluent limits for suspended solids, nitrogen, and phosphorus. The consulting engineering firm, Dewberry Preble-Rish, under the supervision of Philip Jones, will provide the process design, flow analysis, and permitting.

Additional components in the Seacrest project will include two rotating drum screens, a grit removal system, and an influent bypass system. A chlorine contact basin will be reconfigured to accommodate a high-level disinfection system and a tertiary disc filtration system will be replaced. Evoqua's DAVCOSM field service team will work closely with a concrete tank supplier to provide the field-erected SBR treatment tanks. The DAVCO team will also provide the equipment installation, field service and commissioning for this plant expansion. Start-up is expected in early 2018.

The Regional Utilities service area in south Walton County, Florida has three interconnected wastewater treatment facilities, enabling the diversion of flow from one plant to the other during maintenance shutdowns, utility power outages, or peak-flow periods, which occur during tourist seasons. These facilities are located in a rapidly growing residential community that includes beach-front properties and resorts.
