DistribuTECH will be held Jan. 22-24 in Tampa, FL. More than 275 exhibiting companies are expected to participate in the 2008 event, with many offering products specifically targeting the water industry.

Water utilities are faced with a flood of information ranging from control system data to customer information. Proper management of assets, networks and systems are key to the performance of water utilities. Conference sessions will showcase how integration of diverse information streams can help water utilities optimize operations and leverage technology to drive value, lower costs and streamline operations.

From source to tap, as much as 15-50% of treated drinking water is lost due to leakage. A panel of water industry experts will discuss what is required to start measuring and managing water leakage and the benefits that can be gained, such as reducing operating and maintenance costs, deferring capital expenditures for capacity expansion, and increased revenue from the sale of water.

Sessions on meter reading systems will discuss new systems on the market, provide insight into the types of information they provide, and show how utilities can develop a business case for investing in AMR/AMI. A Breakfast Roundtable will give attendees the chance to discuss trends in the AMR market, including a movement toward fixed network installations and the wealth of customer information and interaction they offer.
