PVC well casing

CertainTeed has added a 24" outside diameter option to its line of Certa-Lok™ PVC Well Casings. Made of high-grade PVC, the casing is immune to electrolytic and galvanic corrosion, and will not rust or rot like metal pipe. The product is also resistant to virtually all chemicals normally found in wells, including chlorine-based disinfectants and the highly corrosive acids often used for well rehabilitation. The casing can be assembled without solvent cement or reinforcement screw attachments and weighs less than conventional steel casing. Using the company's spline-locking design, the casing forms a full-strength restrained joint instantly during assembly in all weather conditions.

Level detector

Because the Opti-Float® level detector from Cox Research uses fiber optic cable and light instead of copper wires and electricity, it can be used directly in explosive areas such as wastewater pump station wet wells. The float, cable and UL/CSA listed transceiver are durable and have been tested to over 1,000,000 operations. The level detector is constructed with all recyclable materials and is a suitable replacement for mercury floats. Using fiber optic cable, a beam of light is transmitted from an LED in a remote transceiver down to the float, where the beam makes and breaks depending on the tilt of the float.

Ratcheting crank

Lowell's ratcheting crank handles offer an alternative to handwheels and other devices for machine control in both OEM and retrofit applications. Designed primarily for permanent mounting on shafts or studs, the ratcheting crank handles are far less likely to slip, stick, or freeze than other devices. With their small arc of operation, adjustment is faster, safer, and easier for the operator and reduces wear on the machinery.

Urethane coating

Sherwin-Williams has introduced Cor-Cote HB Urethane, offering rapid return to service for the assets of municipal and industrial wastewater treatment facilities, including clarifiers, settling tanks, wet wells and grit chambers. It can be applied on both concrete and steel substrates. Users can resume immersion service within four hours of application, in some cases. The low-VOC (<250 g/L) product is specially formulated to resist H2S gas permeation and microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC). Reinforced with micaceous iron oxide (MIOx), the coating also delivers high abrasion resistance, increased film integrity and superior edge retention qualities.
