Spire Metering Technology, formerly Shenitech, has launched its wPrime™ series ultrasonic water meter, model 280W. The meter uses cutting-edge ultrasonic technology for accurate water flow measurement. It does not have any moving parts that can wear out and it requires no maintenance. The meter has a remote readout which could be configured as pulse, M-Bus or RS485/Modbus. A wireless module is also available upon request.

Meter test bench

Ford Meter Box has introduced its second generation Automated Measuring System (AMS) Test Bench. The system is available as a new installation or as a retro-fit kit for existing systems. In addition to automating the manual tasks of securing the meters and purging air from the system, the AMS also monitors the flow of water, automatically shutting down the system when the test is complete or the tank is full.

Lithium batteries

Tadiran Batteries, a manufacturer of lithium batteries, has introduced TLM-HE Series cells, a new family of AA-diameter cylindrical lithium metal oxide batteries that feature an open circuit voltage of 4V, with a discharge capacity of up to 1,100 mAh for a AA-size cell (20 mA at 2.8V RT), nearly 40% greater than a TLM-HP cell of equivalent size. TLM-HE Series batteries cells are capable of handling 5A continuous current and 15A pulses. Constructed with a carbon-based anode, multi metal oxide cathode, and an organic electrolyte, the TLM Series batteries were first introduced in 2007, and are now being deployed in a variety of commercial and military applications.
