Odorous gas emissions from wastewater treatment facilities generate complaints from local residents and are subject to the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990. Defender odor control covers contain volatile organic compounds at their source. Low-profile, structurally- supported covers minimize emission treatment volume to reduce the cost of air filtration equipment.

Odor control
Whereas other systems extract and treat odors, the Terminodour system from Kusters Water is unique in that it oxides the odor at the point of the source. The ionized air is distributed into the building where it reacts and oxides odors while maintaining a healthy working environment for operators and reducing corrosion. Terminodour uses no water, chemical or media, which minimizes capital and operational costs in dealing with spent media or consumables.

Odor neutralizers
For controlling all odors common to municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants, collection systems and processing, OMI's Ecosorb® odor control solutions offer a non-toxic biodegradable option for completely removing malodors. Natural Ecosorb odor control products can be delivered via methods including atomization and vapor phase, using existing hardware (e.g., scrubbers) or a custom solution designed to suit specific needs. The new vaporizing dispersion systems now include PLC controls, which can be operated from a PC or phone.

Dual-tech filter
EcoPure® from BioAir delivers a double- barreled odor control solution: a proprietary biotrickling filtering system and patent- pending EcoBase® media technology, combined with an EcoSorb polishing step, providing very low emissions. By combining activated carbon with the air purification power of the EcoFilter® biotrickling filter, the carbon life is extended by up to 10 times over that of typical carbon filters. Odor eliminator
The biodegradable Rydall OE Odor Eliminator from Apex Engineering is an environmentally-beneficial biocatalyst containing a complex mixture of nutrients, vitamins and trace elements specifically designed to naturally eliminate odors and corrosion problems. Unlike similar odor control products, it does not contain masking agents, essential oils, bacteria, or active enzymes. It eradicates odors by disallowing the formation of foul substances such as H2S, ammonia, mercaptans, and skatoles by stimulating existing bacteria already prevalent in wastewater.

Biological odor control
The OdorCap 5700 from Novozymes Biologicals contains patented biological wastewater odor control technology and can degrade hydrogen sulfide, mercaptans and volatile fatty acids. A biological wastewater odor control program using Novozyme's system offers superior odor prevention because it works in the same environments where odors are generated. Further, it has no unintended negative impact on the biological treatment system. The OdorCap 5700 works within existing plant infrastructure.

Filtration media
