As of January 2015, the McWane ductile iron pipe companies, including McWane Cast Iron Pipe Company, Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Company, Atlantic States Cast Iron Pipe Company, and Clow Water Systems, are unified under the new name McWane Ductile.
"Bringing the divisions together under one name allows us to provide the market with one united, iron-strong brand," said Jeff Otterstedt, McWane Ductile senior vice president. "While we have many valued and rich traditions that are unique to each of our divisions, we believe that we become stronger collectively as one distinct brand."
The new name change provides McWane's North American and international customers with a uniform business experience by standardizing purchase orders and acknowledgements, invoicing, RMA procedures, quotations, submittals, terms and conditions, and most other customer service processes. Further, it aligns the best practices and culture from all of the company's divisions under one shared vision.
McWane Ductile is a manufacturer of ductile iron products that are used in water distribution and infrastructure systems. The company's products are integral to the development and function of both plumbing and clean waterworks systems throughout the world. Its various joint pipes include the Tyton® Fastite®, TR Flex®, Mechanical, Ball and Socket, Thrust-Lock® Boltless Restrained, and MJ/TJ.
The first McWane foundry, McWane Pipe, was established in 1921 in the city of Birmingham, Ala. Today, McWane Ductile continues to supply ductile iron pipe used in water infrastructure found in cities across America. Further, the company manufactures ductile iron pipe in strict accordance with design criteria that has been developed by the American National Standards Institute and that equals or exceeds the requirements of all published standards of the American Water Works Association.
Having a geographically diverse group of several plants with full production lines also benefits customers with reduced lead times. "Wherever you are in the country, we're close by, which means our products are easily accessible," said Otterstedt.
With this unification, McWane Ductile also is fully committed to maintaining and continually investing in its three plants, located in Phillipsburg, N.J.; Coshocton, Ohio; and Provo, Utah. The company will now refer to the plants based on the states in which they're located. For example, the Provo location is now called McWane Ductile Utah. This will make it easy to specify where products are made while maintaining one brand identity.
Canada Pipe, a member of the McWane ductile iron pipe companies, will retain its name, which best reflects its unique position as a ductile iron pipe provider located in Canada.
