NMB Water Groundbreaking Event at Norwood Water Treatment Plant Launches Reliability Improvements Project

NMB Water provides high‐quality water to more than 180,000 customers in the region. 
NORTH MIAMI BEACH, FL , DEC 19, 2017 -- NMB Water continues to invest in critical infrastructure through the launch of the Reliability Improvement Projects. Honored guests from the City of North Miami Beach, City of Miami Gardens, City of Aventura, Town of Golden Beach, and City of Sunny Isles Beach will officially break ground on the construction of improvements to the Norwood Water Treatment Plant, which provides high‐quality water to more than 180,000 customers in the region.

NMB Water provides reliable, high‐quality water to its customers while protecting and preserving the environment for future generations. The regional utility currently serves customers in northern Miami‐Dade County including North Miami Beach, Miami Gardens, Aventura, Sunny Isles Beach, Golden Beach, and portions of unincorporated Miami‐Dade County.
"With this project, we begin to deliver the first in a series of essential capital improvements that ensures sustainable water delivery and lays the foundation for future economic growth." said Jeffrey F. Thompson, P.E., Director of NMB Water.

To continue to provide high‐quality service and plan for growth, NMB Water is implementing systemwide improvements, such as the Reliability Improvements Project, to deliver safe and reliable water utility service for regional customers.
"This is truly an important time for NMB and our partner cities, as we are making lasting investments to improve our public infrastructure system while protecting our environment and laying the foundation for shared prosperity," said Mayor George Vallejo, City of North Miami Beach.

The Reliability Improvements Project will enhance operations and long‐term viability of the water supply and treatment system. This $11 million investment will upgrade the following critical systems, including:
  • Generators and electrical components
  • Chemical feed systems and filtration system
  • Instrumentation and control systems
  • Pumping systems
  • Finished water storage
  • Various other components of the water treatment plant.

This project is anticipated to be completed in late 2018.
