MUNICH, Germany – Wastewater treatment company Huber has combined membrane laminate technology from Microdyn-Nadir into its VRM rotating membrane system.

The two German companies have combined forces to achieve what they claim to be a “new milestone in MBR (membrane bioreactor) technology”.

The goal was to jointly develop the largest MBR module available on the market which carries membrane laminate technology by Microdyn-Nadir and at the same time is a rotating system.

As part of the development, BIO-CEL technology from Microdyn-Nadir will be integrated as part of the trapezoidal membrane segments with the Huber VRM system.

Dr. Oliver Rong, vice CEO at HUBER SE, said: “By combining our VRMtechnology with the unique laminate technology we achieve a significantly higher packing density and therefore an increase in membrane area per module. Moreover, energy demand and costs can be reduced tremendously.”
