TEL AVIV, Israel – Israeli wastewater treatment provider Emefcy has inaugurated its Membrane Aerated Biofilm Reactors (MABR) wastewater treatment facility at HaYogev in Israel.

The facility serves the rural farming community of 1,000 homes, agricultural fields as well as local diary needs.

MABR technology includes a spirally wound air sleeve submerged in a tank, to which wastewateris fed continuously and effluent is discharged by overflow.

Emefcy claims the solution saves energy by eliminating the need to blow air, through the implementation of the company’s patented passive aeration process.

Aside from the HaYogev installation in its home nation of Israel, Emefcy recently marked the start of an international installation with a project in Ethiopia (read WWi story).

Other installations also include a MABR plant under construction on the US Virgin Island of St. Thomas and in the Jiangsu Province, China.

The project inauguration was attended by several VIPs, including Tzachi Wermus, CEO of Yuvalei HaEmek municipality; Professor Avner Adin – chairman of Adin Holdings, Richard Irving, executive chairman of Emefcy; and managing director, Eytan Levy.
