JIANGXI, China – Chinese lithium compound producer, General Lithium, has contracted Veolia Water Technologies to provide HPD Evaporation and Crystallization equipment for the operation of its new lithium plant in Jiangxi Province.

The facility, the first of several, will supply lithium hydroxide and lithium carbonate for products such as batteries for electric vehicles and computers.

As part of the contract, Veolia will supply three of its HPD crystallizers to process spodumene rock into lithium products.

A mechanical vapor recompression system will be provided to help remove impurities, eventually helping to produce battery grade lithium hydroxide monohydrate in a two-stage crystallizer.

Lithium hydroxide production is increasing globally, with current mineral and/or brine-based operations now located in China, Australia and North and South America.
