DAVID, Panama - Panama’s National Institute of Water Distribution Systems (IDAAN) has chosen SUEZ to build and then operate a new wastewater treatment network in the city of David for five years.

The project includes two contracts, worth a total of €70 million for SUEZ, covering the wastewatertreatment networks in the East and West sectors of the city.

In partnership with PENTECH, SUEZ will pump and collect the wastewater and build the public wastewater treatment network.

In the East part of the city, SUEZ will also build a wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 51,840 m3/day, using degremont® technologies, including a compact clarifier, sludge thickening equipment and a methane digester.

This project is part of the large-scale, nationwide “Proyecto de Agua y Saneamiento en Panama” (PASAP) programme, which aims to improve access to drinking water and wastewater treatment throughout the country.

The group has been present in Panama since 2008 and built the first wastewater treatment station of Panama’s city. In 2014 SUEZ won the contract to operate and maintain the capital’s wastewater collection system.
