Warden Biomedia will supply its Biopipe 600 product to a Turkish company building a new MBBR plant at Amman's airport...

LONDON, UK - UK’s biological filter media manufacturer Warden Biomedia has won a contract with Turkish water treatment company, Yeditepe Aritma to supply its Biopipe 600 product.

Istanbul based Yeditepe Aritma will use Warden’s Biopipe in a new moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) plant at Queen Alia International Airport, Amman, the capital of Jordan.

The Biopipe 600 is designed to provide a large protected surface area for the biofilm and optimal conditions for the bacteria culture when the media are suspended in water.

Its design creates a high percentage of protected surface area for microorganisms to adhere. In turn, this increases the overall biomass concentration and can reduce the tank volume required for wastewater treatment.

Large openings allow for the wastewater to freely pass through the media which helps maintain a healthy and thin biofilm, the company said.

Mark Barrett, managing director of Warden Biomedia, said: “Yeditepe Aritma was looking for a Western EU supplier. As well as us, they also contacted Spanish and German manufacturers, but were most impressed by the design and high quality of our Biopipe product.”

Yeditepe Aritma said the selected product is made from polypropylene rather than polyethylene, which is a key consideration for the company.
