Sludge treatment specialist Simon-Hartley completed advanced sludge thickening installations at six of Anglian Water's wastewater treatment works. The US$ 811,000 investment in facilities at Cromer, Fornham, Bedford, Corby, Fakenham and Halstead is part of a long-term framework contract. The six Aquabelt installations are the first wave of projects to come out of the framework agreement, which is providing Anglian Water with the resources needed to meet long-term legislative commitments.

Simon Hartley supplied a total of seven Aquabelt units with all ancillary equipment. The three sizes of Aquabelt that have been supplied under the framework contract have a feed capacity of between 85 and 1,400 m3/day. Feeds vary from imported septic tank, waste and primary sludge to surplus activated sludge, and have a dry solids (DS) concentration of between 0.7 and 3% DS. The Aquabelts deliver a capture rate of more than 95% and a minimum concentration of 6%.
