ComilSludge dewatering C-Press

ANDRITZ has launched new sludge dewatering equipment for wastewater and industrial water treatment plants. The ANDRITZ C-Press features a direct drive system and conical shaft with constant screw pitch. It is able to handle inlets from 1 to 23 m3/h and outlets from 50 to 800 kg DS/h. Due to bi-sequential cleaning – it is said to deliver 30% less water consumption than comparable equipment.

All-in-one sulfide analyzer

The SMS-22 Sulfide Ion Measurement System from Electro-Chemical Devices (ECD) is a sequential sampling analyzer featuring automated sequential sampling, controlling the sequential sampling with a combination of relays and timers. Sampling times are adjustable from two samples per hour to 10 samples per hour. The SMS-22 Sulfide Ion Measurement System uses a sulfide ion selective electrode (ISE) to measure the total amount of sulfide present in the sample. ISE-based S-2 measurement provides measurement ranges of 0 to 5 ppm and up to 500 ppm using electrode cartridges. It features a measuring temperature range of -5 to 50°C (20° to 120°F), accuracy to ± 20 ppb or 5% of reading, whichever is greater, and repeatability of ± 2% of reading.

Surface aerators replaced in Dubai

The Dubai Investments Park (DIP) wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) oxidation ditch activated sludge plant recently found itself strained by filamentous sludge bulking. This was likely caused by high organic loads, high summer temperatures and inevitable low dissolved oxygen. The problem was solved by replacing surface aerators with the Aire-O2 Triton® Process Aerator/Mixer, engineered by Aeration Industries of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The use of two, 30Hp (22kW) aerators/mixers were recommended to upgrade the existing supplemental high-speed surface aspirator aerators. According to the supplier, the result was a high suspension of solids, temperature destratification and greatly increased dissolved oxygen.

Bio-thermic digester technology to cut waste to landfill

Advetec has launched an industrial scale Bio-Thermic Digester (BTD) to reduce high volumes of organic waste, particularly in wastewater. Eight years in development and manufactured in the UK, the Advetec Bio-Thermic Digester is a containerised solution capable of converting 33 tonnes of organic waste material, over a 48 to 72 hour period, reducing the volume by over 96%, according to manufacturers. The BTD technology has been trialled and tested in small applications over a period of four years in the UK, the US and the Middle East.
