Returning to Germany's capital city, this year's Wasser Berlin International will include the additional event of Flood Management Berlin and Innovations. We take a look at what visitors can expect.

Protection against floodwater and disaster management will be two of key themes at this year's Wasser Berlin International congress and exhibition. From 24 to 27 March 2015, under the heading of Flood Management Berlin', the new international trade fair section of Wasser Berlin International will enable visitors to obtain an overview of all the relevant products, services and solutions.

Showcase: German utility Berliner Wasserbetriebe

These include such as flood defence systems, flood protection measures, coastal protection measures, flood barriers, dykes and dyke systems, water engineering, civil engineering, building planning, construction technology as well as risk and disaster management.

A one-day symposium accompanying events in the new flood event section will be taking place on 25 March 2015 in Hall 6.3 in Room A. This is organised jointly by WASSER BERLIN e.V. and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Berlin. Melanie Schultz van Haegen-Maas Geesteranus, the Dutch Minister of Infrastructure and the Environment, and Barbara Hendricks, the Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety, will open the event.

The second No Dig Berlin symposium and exhibition on trenchless technology will also return to the event, in conjunction with the International Pipeline Symposium. This is designed to offer industry professionals a platform to discuss and see state-of-the-art trenchless construction techniques from around the world.

Nor is it just flood management and trenchless technology related innovation that will be showcased at the Berlin show. Organisers Messe Berlin has hosted an "Innovations" products debut on its website prior to the event. One of the featured innovations is a novel technology for online water analysis from Bürkert. The Online Analysis System Type 8905 is used by water works to continuously monitor and record essential water parameters, both in raw water and in treated water before this is fed into the distribution network.

Meanwhile, Xylem will be demonstrating its "Leopold Oxelia" treatment system, which is designed to reduce organic carbon compound and micro-pollutant content and kills off pathogens. The treatment process combines ozone treatment, filtration and analysis of reference control parameters in one single solution.

And Danish pump company, Grundfos, will be talking to visitors about its Well Field Energy Audit (WFEA), which can be applied to analyse energy consumption and to determine optimisation potential for water extraction in well fields.

Wasser Berlin International takes place from March 24-27. Over 600 exhibitors and 31,000 visitors are expected to visit the event this year. Visit: www.wasser-berlin.de
