David Schaaf joins Purafil, Inc. as engineering & manufacturing manager

Purafil, Inc., announced that it has hired David Schaaf for the position of engineering & manufacturing manager.


DORAVILLE, Ga., March 31, 2004 -- Purafil, Inc., announced that it has hired David Schaaf for the position of engineering & manufacturing manager.

In this position, Schaaf is responsible for the design, engineering, and manufacturing of the company's gas-phase air filtration products. He has 16 years experience in product and development engineering.

Prior to joining Purafil, Schaaf was engineering manager for the Aire Systems division at the Ft. Smith, Arkansas business unit of Trane. As principal engineer at the Lexington, Kentucky business unit of Trane from 1994 to 2002, he managed the redesign of the company's indoor commercial air handling unit.

From 1992 to 1994, he was development engineer for York International, where he created and maintained cataloged and custom air handling units. From 1988 to 1992, he was product engineer at Trane-Lexington; in this capacity, he was responsible for engineering the company's outdoor commercial air handling unit.

Schaaf has served on Guideline Product Committee 16 of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and he currently works with Technical Committee 9.5 and Standing Standard Project Committee 90.1. He is also a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).

A native of Kentucky, Schaaf earned his bachelor's degree and his master's in mechanical engineering from the University of Louisville in 1986 and 1988, respectively.
