Calgon Carbon announces recent odor control successes

PITTSBURGH, PA, Dec. 6, 2005 -- Calgon Carbon Corp. announced Dec. 1 two significant achievements of its Odor Control Business group -- two contract awards valued at more than $2.6 million for the supply of Phoenix® Odor Control Systems for the reduction of municipal wastewater odors.

Calgon Carbon received contracts for Phoenix Systems for Onondaga County, New York, and for Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The four Phoenix systems for Onondaga County shall be installed at the Midland CSO facility in 2007. The six Phoenix units for Halifax will be supplied to the Halifax North, Dartmouth, and Herring Cove Wastewater Treatment Plants, with deliveries beginning in November of 2005.

Calgon Carbon has patented the Phoenix odor control process, which employs the company's patented Centaur water washable carbon for the removal of odorous hydrogen sulfide gas from the environment. The company has provided over 120 Phoenix systems to municipal wastewater facilities since 1997.
