Various projects support Beijing's efforts to build an energy efficient, sustainable city.

WHITE PLAINS, NY, Feb. 9, 2007 -- ITT Corp., a world-leading supplier of water treatment and fluid technical equipment and systems, announced yesterday that it has recently been awarded several contracts in Beijing, China, to construct municipal water supply and drainage systems. ITT is a major contributor in the city of Beijing's efforts to build an environmentally-efficient city, as well as in the city's development of fluid technology systems and preparations for the 2008 Summer Olympics.

As part of the contracts, ITT will provide pumping solutions for the 2008 Olympic Stadium, known as the Bird's Nest. The climate-control system's advanced heat-transfer mechanism will enhance the stadium's heat, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) capabilities. ITT's advanced pumps, manufactured by ITT Goulds Pumps in Nanjing, are the heart of the HVAC system, controlling the hydraulic pressure of the system, while also maximizing energy efficiency. This system will control the climate inside the Bird's Nest, guaranteeing the stadium stays cool for both the athletes and fans.

ITT is also providing technical solutions for the National Conference Center in the Olympic Village. The Conference Center, which will serve as both the Olympic News Center and a competition site, will employ ITT's air conditioning pumps and water supply units. These systems will use an ITT frequency converter, a model of energy-efficient pump technology, to maintain the appropriate climate and ensure safe water is available for use.

"ITT is honored to take part in the advancement of this great city with our advanced fluid technology systems," said William E. Taylor, president of ITT China. "With the 2008 Olympic Summer Games and beyond, ITT is committed to helping Beijing develop into one of the foremost environmentally-conscious cities in the world and we look forward to lending our expertise in energy and water efficiency."

In addition to ITT's participation in Beijing's Olympics preparation, ITT has been awarded several contracts by the city in an effort to build a more "environmentally-friendly" Beijing. The city has made a commitment to becoming a global leader among the world's major cities in promoting "green" municipal practices. ITT was chosen from among ten other bidders to provide its energy-conserving air conditioning circulation pumps for CCTV's new headquarters in the heart of the central business district.

ITT will also provide the Yintai Center, Beijing's tallest building, with air conditioning and fire control systems, employing the same frequency converter as in the Olympic News Center. Additionally, as one of the world's leaders in water treatment systems, ITT will provide frequency converting, water-supply equipment to efficiently filter water on Financial Street, a rapidly growing financial center in downtown Beijing. All of these projects are part of an effort by the city to incorporate energy-efficient architecture and to promote an environmentally-friendly Beijing.
