ASSE's upcoming webinar to address federal environmental regulations

DES PLAINES, IL, July 18, 2007 -- To help safety, health and environmental (SH&E) professionals develop a wider understanding of federal environmental regulations the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) will be host to a technical webinar titled "Essential Knowledge of Environmental Regulations" on August 15, 2007 from 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM CST presented by Salvatore Caccavale, CHMM, CPEA.

Federal laws controlling hazardous chemical exposure to human health and the environment fall into five categories: occupational, transportation, chemical use, environmental protection and cleanup. In the webinar, Caccavale will discuss the basic federal regulations for water, air and solid waste, including current information on Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA); Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA); Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA); Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA); the Clean Water Act (CWA); and the Clean Air Act (CAA).

Caccavale, an ASSE member, currently serves as corporate director of environmental, health and safety (EHS) for Superior Bulk Logistics in Oakbrook, IL. He has taught environmental, safety and industrial hygiene courses for the Community College of Beaver County in western Pennsylvania and the University of Medicine and Dentistry (Rutgers University) in Piscataway, NJ. Caccavale is involved with ASSE's environmental and transportation practice specialties and currently serves as vice president of the National Safety Council's (NSC) Business and Industry Division and the NSC Board of Directors and is associated with the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) and the National Tank Truck Carriers (NTTC) Safety Council.
