• New contract in the Middle East valued at over 5.5 million euros; Improvements will include leak detection, water savings and guarantee of supply to end users

MADRID, Spain, July 12, 2007 -- Telvent GIT S.A., the IT company for a secure and sustainable world, today announced the signing of a contract with Kahramaa, the Qatari water and electricity utility company. Under the contract, valued at over 5.5 million euros, Telvent will provide consulting services to Kahramaa for a period of four years on ways to enhance its drinking water transmission and distribution network.

Through the services and systems to be supplied, Telvent will seek to optimize current distribution network management. The Company will sectorize and study Qatar's current water network, supply equipment required for leak detection, model the network, and design, create and provide related training for leak detection during the four years of the contract's term. The project will allow Kahramaa to achieve management quality levels similar to those of the world's leading water management companies.

"This contract strengthens our position in the Middle Eastern water sector, one of our strategic markets. Enhancing Kahramaa's water distribution and management network will provide significant benefits to Qatar. It is also consistent with one of Telvent's primary strategic objectives of ensuring the most efficient management of natural resources in order to achieve a sustainable world," stated Manuel Sanchez, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Telvent.

Qatar will benefit from increased water savings as a result of leak detection and reductions in the amount of water supplied taken by unauthorized users. Most importantly, it will be able to guarantee the daily water supply to end users. Telvent and Kahramaa will be contributing to sustainable development, managing and controlling the water consumption with maximum efficiency.

Telvent is currently developing a complementary project for Kahramaa consisting of a SCADA control system for management of the drinking water supply to the area of Doha, the Qatari capital. Telvent has also implemented the modeling of the main water supply network for Copasa, in Belo Horizonte (Brazil).

The new contract reinforces Telvent's presence in the Middle East, where it has already carried out several projects, including the water supply control system for the city of Amman (Jordan); the national land and sea weather observation network and weather data processing system in Kuwait; the gas pipeline management system in Istanbul linking Turkey and Iraq; the water distribution management system in Ankara (Turkey); and the gas pipeline management system for GASCO in Cairo (Egypt).

Telvent, the IT company for a secure and sustainable world, specializes in high-value-added products, services and integrated solutions in the Energy, Transport, Environmental and Public Administration industry segments, as well as Global IT Services. Its innovative technology and proven experience help ensure secure and efficient management of the operating and business processes of the world's leading companies.
