• Live from the Black Sea
MYSTIC, CT, Aug. 15, 2007 -- Dr. Robert Ballard, President of the Institute for Exploration at Mystic Aquarium, and an international team of researchers, are currently conducting a combination of survey and archaeological work in the Black Sea. The two sites of interest include a shipwreck located off the coast of Turkey in the anoxic layer, and the Byzantine shipwreck located off the Ukrainian coast. The expedition team is also working with artifact conservation experts to deploy underwater display cases and environmental monitoring devices. Aug. 15, 2007 -- The second edition of the online "Water Demand Management glossary" has been released. The glossary is part of the Regional Water Demand Initiative in the Middle East and North Africa (WaDImena), and aims to contribute to a more in-depth and holistic understanding of water demand management (WDM) concepts and terms. The glossary is developed in three languages: Arabic, English and French and targets policy makers, research groups, NGOs and other practitioners working on water demand management and promoting the efficient, equitable and sustainable use of water. Aug. 14, 2007 -- Adriana Alcántara Ruiz, Dalia Graciela Díaz Gómez and Carlos Hernández Mejía from Mexico have been awarded the prestigious 2007 Stockholm Junior Water Prize in a formal ceremony in the Stockholm City Conference Centre/Folkets Hus during the World Water Week in Stockholm. The students from the Cultural Institute of Paideia in Toluca, Mexico, received the Prize from the hands of H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria on behalf of the Stockholm Water Foundation.
