HERTFORDSHIRE, UK, June 26, 2009 -- Innovative SICK technology gives the new LMS 100 series of laser sensors high accuracy sensing with minimal errors for security, safety and presence detection both indoors and outdoors -- ideal for sensitive or vulnerable installations such as public utilities.

The new LMS 100 series of laser sensors offers high accuracy.SICK expects the LMS 100 series to make a significant impact on the laser sensor market, due to its ability to avoid false signals, broad usability and competitive price. It is suitable for security monitoring around electrical substations, mains water pumping and similar locations.

Double pulse evaluation technology enables LMS 100 sensors to eliminate distracting minor beam reflections such as rain or fine water spray, or dust on the sensor surface, and can even be mounted behind glass. The LMS 100 can actually provide effective detection through heavy airborne particles greatly improving its usability.

The SICK LMS 100 series are compact laser sensors with a short to medium range of up to 20 meters and wide 270° detection fields. They eliminate the need for transmitter/sensor pairs and the expense of associated wiring, are easy to mount and set up on site and can be precisely configured for up to ten defined fields.

The LMS 100 is IP65 rated for long, reliable life indoor applications, including factory and industrial environments and vehicle mounted. The LMS120 has similar specifications but is designed specifically for security applications, with high accuracy field definition. Both are very compact and light for unobtrusive mounting where required; hazardous area rated housings are available.

The LMS 111 is IP67 environmentally protected, and is designed for outdoor use in harsh environments including highways, docks and harbors. It is ideal for presence detection duties such as sensing stationary or moving vehicles, and on external security and protection.

SICK manufactures and supplies an ever expanding range of highly developed products to aid the smooth running of factory automation processes -- Industrial Sensors, Machine Safety Systems, Environmental Process and Analysis Instrumentation and Auto Ident devices.
