• New, upgraded network to help Foz do Brasil, Odebrecht Group support the three million people in 19 cities where it provides services

SAO PAULO, Brazil, Jan. 12, 2010 -- 3Com Corporation today announced that Foz do Brasil (formerly Aguas de Limeira), the privately owned state water and sanitation organization for several of the most important cities in São Paulo, has selected 3Com and its H3C enterprise networking solutions for its network upgrade project. Owned by Odebrecht Group, Foz do Brasil provides services for treatment of urban waste and sanitation (water and sewer) for approximately three million people in 19 cities. The group conducted an extensive competitive review before selecting the H3C solution for its superior performance and its flexibility for integrating future technologies.

"We are committed to offering our users the best possible networking experience and the 3Com H3C solution deliver a clear price-performance advantage"

With an administrative headquarter and three additional plants in the city, Foz do Brasil, which will complete 15 years of management on sanitation services in 2010, needed to restructure its technology base to improve network performance for its users.

"We are committed to offering our users the best possible networking experience and the 3Com H3C solution deliver a clear price-performance advantage," indicated Estevão Cover, IT Coordinator of Foz do Brasil. "As our networking needs and demands grow and new technologies emerge over time, we're confident that we now have a network that can adapt with us."

The modernized network for Foz do Brasil will include:

*H3C® S5600 Gigabit switches with 10-Gigabit uplinks
**H3C S5500SI with PoE with GBIC optical fiber modules at the network edge
3Com® Switch 4500 edge stackable
3Com Baseline 2226 Plus 10/1000 Ethernet switch

Implementation also included an exclusive storage network based on iSCSI (Internet Small Computer System Interface) data storage protocol, using ***H3C S5100-EI Gigabit switches for the servers' communication.

The network upgrade is similar to a project for the Municipality of Rio Claro, provided by Rio Claro Sanitation (Saneamento de Rio Claro), which also uses 3Com's H3C switches.
