SALT LAKE CITY, UT, Jan. 28, 2011 -- Following their first successful Marcellus Shale launch in August of 2010, Purestream Technology has contracted with SM Energy to deploy their second Marcellus Shale installation, in McKean County, Pennsylvania. Purestream Technology is a Utah-based R&D company providing a suite of cutting edge environmental solutions for oil and gas producers.

The Trilogy System was created to alleviate the environmental impact of hydraulic fracturing by evaporating produced and flowback water at the well site. Millions of gallons of water are typically used in the hydraulic fracturing process, a substantial amount of which returns to the surface as waste water which then must be transported to off-site disposal facilities. Decreasing the volume of water requiring disposal greatly reduces the cost of transportation and disposal as well as associated environmental impact -- mainly from trucking.

"The successful deployment of this solution is the culmination of a unique partnership between Utah State University's Space Dynamics and Energy Dynamics Labs and Purestream. Purestream has been able to incorporate this cutting-edge technology in our solutions to effectively and reliably treat and purify wastewater from the oil and gas industry," said Neil Richardson, CEO, Purestream Technology.

The Trilogy System successfully scrubs air emissions, cleans and evaporates waste water and also provides remote water, oil and condensate data-tracking technology. Placed at the well site, one standard Trilogy unit can process up to 63,000 gallons per day, effectively removing harmful contaminants from waste water and rendering it cleaner than drinking water. A key feature of the system is its adaptive capability. It can be engineered and deployed to address specific issues facing any region or producer.

West Virginia based PDC Mountaineer, LLC was the first producer in Marcellus Shale to adopt the technology. Purestream installed key components of The Trilogy System at PDC's operation in Taylor County, West Virginia.

About Purestream Technology
Purestream Technology is a privately held R&D company with a family of patented environmental solutions focused on the treatment of wastewater, air emissions, renewable energy and data tracking. Water solutions include evaporative and vapor recompression technologies as well as other thermal processes which address both air and water challenges. Purestream partnered with USURF's Energy and Space Dynamics labs in 2007 and continues aggressive research and development of future oil and gas solutions. Web: purestreamtechnology.com
