AECOM was program manager for the $72-million WRP, which replaced the existing Fillmore plant. The new facility enabled 100 percent reuse of treated effluent, ending the practice of discharging it to a river.

The awards bestowed upon the project include:

  • 2010 Public-Private Partnership Award from the National Council for Public-Private Partnerships
  • 2010 Project of the Year in Waste/Wastewater from the American Public Works Association (APWA) Ventura County chapter
  • 2010 Ventura County Project of the Year Award from APWA, presented during National Engineers Week
  • 2010 American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) California Engineering Excellence Honor Award
  • 2010 ACEC Engineering Excellence Award National Finalist for Project of the Year
  • 2010 ACEC Engineering Excellence Awards National Recognition Award
  • 2010 Global Water Awards Water Reuse Project of the Year Runner-up from the Global Water Intelligence Summit in Paris, France

Among the many benefits delivered by the Fillmore project are protection and improvement of the regions water resources.

"We are honored to receive these recognitions for our work with the city of Fillmore in improving the city's water resources for the residents," said AECOM's Global Managing Director of Water Rob Andrews.
